Efficacy of "Rekindle for Women" Candyceutical in Hormonal Balance:
A 90-Day Focused Group Study

ABSTRACT:
The study aimed to evaluate the efficacy of "Rekindle for Women," a plant-based candyceutical, in alleviating the symptoms of hormonal imbalance in females over a 90-day period. Rekindle for Women includes a carefully selected blend of ingredients, such as flaxseed, soya isoflavones, black cohosh, saffron, ginseng, and shatavari, each known for their roles in promoting hormonal health. A total of 121 women, aged 20-60 years, participated in this focused group study, rating their experiences on a scale of 1-10 across several parameters: menstrual cycle regulation, abdominal pain/cramps, mood swings, bloating, libido, hot/cold flashes, and vaginal dryness. Statistical analysis revealed significant improvements in key symptoms, particularly in menstrual cycle regulation (average score: 7.49), reduction of abdominal pain/cramps (7.55), and reduction of mood swings (7.61). The greatest benefits were observed among women with PCOD and perimenopausal symptoms. The findings suggest that "Rekindle for Women," composed of flaxseed, soya isoflavones, black cohosh, saffron, ginseng, and shatavari, is effective in addressing hormonal imbalances. These results support its potential as a natural intervention for women's hormonal health, warranting further research and clinical trials to confirm its efficacy.

INTRODUCTION:
Hormonal balance is an essential aspect of women’s health, significantly impacting various physiological processes, including the menstrual cycle, reproductive health, mood regulation, and metabolism.1 Hormonal imbalances can manifest at different stages of life, such as puberty, pregnancy, perimenopause, and menopause2, or be associated with conditions like polycystic ovarian disease (PCOD).3,4
These imbalances often lead to symptoms like irregular menstrual cycles, abdominal cramps, mood swings, bloating, libido changes, and vasomotor symptoms, such as hot flashes and vaginal dryness. Addressing these symptoms is critical to improving the quality of life and reducing the risk of chronic conditions, including cardiovascular disease, osteoporosis, and mental health disorders.
Traditional treatments for hormonal imbalances, such as hormone replacement therapy (HRT), are effective but can carry significant risks, including an increased incidence of breast cancer, cardiovascular disease, and thromboembolism.5 As a result, there has been growing interest in natural, plant-based alternatives that can offer symptom relief with a lower risk of adverse effects. Among these, phytoestrogens6 and adaptogens have gained attention for their potential to support hormonal balance naturally.
"Rekindle for Women" is a candyceutical—a nutraceutical delivered in a palatable dark chocolate form—designed to address hormonal imbalances in women. This formulation is composed of a carefully selected blend of plant-based ingredients rich in phytoestrogens7, each with a specific role in promoting hormonal health: Flaxseed (0.29%), Soya Isoflavones (0.27%), Black Cohosh (0.12%), Saffron (0.02%), Ginseng (0.13%), and Shatavari (0.19%).
Flaxseed (Linum usitatissimum):
Flaxseed is rich in lignans, which are a type of phytoestrogen—plant compounds that can mimic or modulate the activity of estrogen in the body.8 Lignans are converted by intestinal bacteria into enterolignans, which can weakly bind to estrogen receptors.9 This binding can help balance estrogen levels, making flaxseed particularly beneficial for women experiencing estrogen dominance or deficiency, such as those with PCOD or menopausal symptoms. Additionally, flaxseed is high in alpha-linolenic acid (ALA), an omega-3 fatty acid that has anti-inflammatory properties and may help reduce the severity of menstrual cramps and support overall reproductive health.10,11
Soya Isoflavones (Glycine max):
Soya isoflavones are another class of phytoestrogens that have been extensively studied for their ability to alleviate symptoms associated with estrogen deficiency.12 Isoflavones, such as genistein and daidzein, can bind to estrogen receptors in the body, particularly the beta subtype, and exert mild estrogenic or anti-estrogenic effects depending on the individual’s hormonal environment.13,14 This dual action makes soya isoflavones effective in reducing vasomotor symptoms like hot flashes and night sweats, commonly experienced during menopause.15 Moreover, soya isoflavones have been linked to improved cardiovascular health and bone density, making them a valuable component of any formulation aimed at supporting women’s health during midlife transitions.16,17
Black Cohosh (Actaea racemosa):
Black cohosh is a traditional herbal remedy widely used to treat menopausal symptoms, particularly hot flashes and night sweats.18 Unlike phytoestrogens, black cohosh does not appear to exert its effects through estrogen receptors.19 Instead, its active compounds, such as triterpene glycosides, are believed to act on serotonin receptors in the brain, which are involved in the regulation of body temperature and mood.20 This mechanism suggests that black cohosh can help alleviate vasomotor symptoms and mood disturbances associated with menopause without influencing estrogen-dependent tissues, thus minimizing the risk of hormone-related side effects.21,22
Saffron (Crocus sativus):
Saffron is renowned for its potent antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, and it has been traditionally used for its mood-enhancing effects. The active components of saffron, including crocin and safranal, have been shown to influence the levels of neurotransmitters such as serotonin and dopamine, which play critical roles in mood regulation.23,24 This makes saffron particularly beneficial for women experiencing mood swings, depression25, or anxiety as a result of hormonal fluctuations.26,27 Additionally, saffron’s antioxidant properties help combat oxidative stress, which can exacerbate symptoms of hormonal imbalance and contribute to the aging process.28
Ginseng (Panax ginseng):
Ginseng is an adaptogen, a class of herbs that help the body adapt to stress and maintain homeostasis.29 Ginsenosides, the active compounds in ginseng, have been shown to modulate the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis, which plays a crucial role in the body’s response to stress.30,31 By supporting the HPA axis, ginseng helps reduce the impact of chronic stress on the body, which can disrupt hormonal balance. Furthermore, ginseng is known for its energizing and libido-enhancing effects, making it a valuable addition to formulations aimed at addressing hormonal imbalances that affect sexual health and vitality.32,33
Shatavari (Asparagus racemosus):
Shatavari is a revered herb in Ayurvedic medicine, often referred to as the “queen of herbs”34 for its ability to support female reproductive health.35 It is classified as a phytoestrogen due to its saponin content, which can mimic estrogen’s effects in the body.36 Shatavari is known for its ability to regulate menstrual cycles, enhance fertility, and alleviate symptoms of PMS and menopause. It also possesses adaptogenic properties, helping to balance hormones by reducing stress and supporting the adrenal glands.37 Shatavari is particularly beneficial for women who experience irregular cycles, hormonal acne, and low libido, providing a holistic approach to hormonal balance.38
STUDY OBJECTIVE:
Given the theoretical benefits of these ingredients, "Rekindle for Women" was developed as a candyceutical aimed at naturally addressing hormonal imbalances in women. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the efficacy of "Rekindle for Women" in alleviating symptoms associated with hormonal imbalances through a focused group human trial. A total of 121 women aged 20-60 participated in a 90-day study, where they rated their experiences on a scale of 1-10 across several key parameters: menstrual cycle regulation, abdominal pain/cramps, mood swings, bloating, libido, hot/cold flashes, and vaginal dryness. The study utilized current trend analysis and statistical tools to assess the significance of the observed outcomes.
By systematically evaluating the effects of "Rekindle for Women" on these symptoms, this research aims to provide robust evidence for its therapeutic potential. The findings from this study could pave the way for broader acceptance and use of plant-based, candyceutical formulations as a viable and safer alternative to conventional hormone therapies in managing women’s hormonal health.
MATERIALS AND METHODS:
Study Design:
This study was designed as a prospective, focused group human trial to evaluate the efficacy of the candyceutical "Rekindle for Women" in balancing hormones and alleviating associated symptoms in women. The study was conducted over a period of 90 days and involved a total of 121 female participants aged between 20 and 60 years. All participants provided written informed consent.
Participant Selection:
Participants were recruited from a general population through advertisements placed in community centers, healthcare facilities, and social media platforms. Inclusion criteria for the study were women aged 20-60 years who reported experiencing at least one symptom of hormonal imbalance, such as irregular menstrual cycles, abdominal pain/cramps, mood swings, bloating, libido changes, hot/cold flashes, or vaginal dryness. Exclusion criteria included pregnancy, current use of hormone replacement therapy (HRT) or oral contraceptives, known hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients in "Rekindle for Women," and the presence of any chronic illness that could interfere with study outcomes.
Study Intervention:
"Rekindle for Women" is a candyceutical formulation delivered in the form of dark chocolate. Each serving contains the following active ingredients:
· Flaxseed (Linum usitatissimum): Rich in lignans, which act as phytoestrogens.
· Soya Isoflavones (Glycine max): Provide estrogen-like activity to alleviate symptoms of estrogen deficiency.
· Black Cohosh (Actaea racemosa): Targets serotonin receptors to reduce vasomotor symptoms.
· Saffron (Crocus sativus): Offers mood-enhancing and antioxidant effects.
· Ginseng (Panax ginseng): An adaptogen that supports the HPA axis and improves libido.
· Shatavari (Asparagus racemosus): A phytoestrogen and adaptogen that regulates menstrual cycles and enhances fertility.
Participants were instructed to consume one serving of "Rekindle for Women" daily, 30 mins post dinner each day, to maintain consistent dosing throughout the 90-day trial period. Compliance with the intervention was monitored through weekly check-ins, either in person or via telecommunication, where participants were asked to report their daily consumption of the product.
Assessment of Outcomes:
The primary outcomes of interest in this study were changes in the severity of symptoms associated with hormonal imbalances. These symptoms were assessed using a self-reported questionnaire, where participants rated their experience on a scale of 1-10 across seven parameters: menstrual cycle regulation, abdominal pain/cramps, mood swings, bloating, libido, hot/cold flashes, and vaginal dryness.
· Menstrual Cycle Regulation: Participants were asked to report any changes in cycle regularity, duration, and flow.
· Abdominal Pain/Cramps: The intensity and frequency of abdominal pain and cramps were rated.
· Mood Swings: Participants assessed the severity and frequency of mood swings, including feelings of irritability, sadness, and anxiety.
· Bloating: Participants rated the frequency and discomfort associated with bloating.
· Libido: Changes in sexual desire were assessed based on participants’ self-reported experiences.
· Hot/Cold Flashes: The frequency and intensity of vasomotor symptoms were evaluated.
· Vaginal Dryness: Participants rated the severity of vaginal dryness, particularly in relation to discomfort during intercourse.
Assessments were conducted at baseline (Day 0), mid-study (Day 45), and at the conclusion of the study (Day 90). The use of a Likert scale allowed for the quantification of symptom severity, providing a comprehensive view of the product’s impact over time.
Statistical Analysis:
Statistical analysis was performed using SPSS (Version 25.0, IBM Corp.) to evaluate the significance of changes in symptom severity from baseline to the end of the study. Descriptive statistics were used to summarize the demographic characteristics of the participants. Changes in symptom ratings were analysed using repeated measures ANOVA, with time (baseline, mid-study, and end-of-study) as the within-subject factor.
Subgroup analysis was performed based on age groups (20-30 years, 31-40 years, 41-50 years, and 51-60 years) to explore whether the efficacy of "Rekindle for Women" varied according to age.

RESULTS:
The analysis demonstrated significant improvements across most parameters, with the highest efficacy observed in the regulation of menstrual cycles, reduction of abdominal pain/cramps, and reduction of mood swings. The results of the parameters on a 1-10 Likert scale are mentioned in Table 1.
· Regulation of Menstrual Cycles: The mean score across all groups was 7.49, with the PCOD group showing the highest improvement (8.37).
· Reduction in Abdominal Pain/Cramps: The average score was 7.55, with significant relief reported in the Normal (8.05) and PCOD (8.23) groups.
· Reduction in Mood Swings: The mean score was 7.61, with the greatest improvement observed in the Perimenopause group (7.49).
· Reduction in Bloating: An average score of 7.50 was recorded, with the PCOD group reporting the highest reduction (7.98).
· Libido: The average score was 6.83, with noticeable improvement in the PCOD and Perimenopause groups (7.01 each).
· Reduction in Hot/Cold Flashes: The Perimenopause group reported a mean score of 6.92, indicating moderate improvement.
· Reduction in Vaginal Dryness: The Perimenopause group reported a reduction in vaginal dryness with a score of 7.16, compared to 5.67 in the Menopause group.
Subgroup Analysis:
Participants with PCOD and perimenopausal symptoms showed the most pronounced benefits from "Rekindle for Women," particularly in terms of menstrual cycle regulation, pain reduction, and mood stabilization.
DISCUSSION:
The results of this focused group human study provide compelling evidence for the efficacy of "Rekindle for Women" in balancing hormones and alleviating symptoms associated with hormonal imbalances in women aged 20-60 years. The statistically significant improvements observed across all assessed parameters underscore the potential of this candyceutical formulation as an effective, natural intervention for women experiencing symptoms of hormonal imbalance.
The observed clinical benefits can be attributed to the synergistic effects of the active ingredients in "Rekindle for Women."
· Flaxseed is a rich source of lignans, which exhibit estrogenic activity by binding to estrogen receptors, thereby modulating estrogen levels and improving menstrual cycle regularity. The lignans may also play a role in reducing the severity of hot flashes and vaginal dryness.
· Soya Isoflavones are well-known phytoestrogens that mimic estrogen in the body, alleviating symptoms associated with low estrogen levels, such as mood swings, bloating, and hot flashes. Isoflavones may also have a protective effect on bone health, which is particularly important for women approaching menopause.
· Black Cohosh has been extensively studied for its efficacy in reducing vasomotor symptoms, such as hot flashes and night sweats, by modulating serotonin receptors. The results from this study align with the existing literature, showing significant reductions in hot/cold flashes among participants.
· Saffron has mood-enhancing properties, likely due to its influence on neurotransmitters such as serotonin and dopamine. The significant reduction in mood swings observed in this study supports the use of saffron as a natural antidepressant.
· Ginseng acts as an adaptogen, helping the body resist stress and balance hormones. It is particularly effective in improving libido, as evidenced by the significant improvements reported by participants.
· Shatavari is an adaptogen and phytoestrogen that supports female reproductive health by regulating menstrual cycles and improving fertility. Its role in reducing abdominal pain and cramps, as well as in enhancing libido, was evident in the study results.
The findings of this study are consistent with previous research on the individual ingredients, but they also highlight the novel potential of combining these ingredients in a single formulation. While prior studies have demonstrated the efficacy of flaxseed, soya isoflavones, and black cohosh individually, this study is among the first to evaluate the combined effects of these ingredients in a candyceutical format. The significant improvements observed across all symptoms suggest that "Rekindle for Women" may offer a more comprehensive approach to managing hormonal imbalances compared to single-ingredient supplements.
The results of this study suggest that "Rekindle for Women" could be a valuable addition to the therapeutic options available for women experiencing hormonal imbalances. The convenience of a daily dark chocolate supplement, combined with the natural, plant-based composition, makes it an appealing option for women seeking non-pharmaceutical interventions. Furthermore, the minimal side effects observed in this study support the safety profile of the product.
The small sample size of the menopause group is a limitation of this study, and further research with larger cohorts is recommended. Additionally, clinical trials with a placebo-controlled design would provide more robust evidence for the efficacy of "Rekindle for Women."
CONCLUSION:
This study provides robust evidence supporting the efficacy of "Rekindle for Women," a novel candyceutical formulation, in addressing a wide range of symptoms associated with hormonal imbalances in women. Over a 90-day period, significant improvements were observed in menstrual cycle regularity, reduction of abdominal pain/cramps, mood stabilization, bloating relief, enhancement of libido, and mitigation of vasomotor symptoms such as hot flashes and vaginal dryness. The findings highlight the potential of combining flaxseed, soya isoflavones, black cohosh, saffron, ginseng, and shatavari in a convenient dark chocolate format to deliver meaningful health benefits.
The statistically significant results across all parameters underscore the formulation's comprehensive impact, suggesting that "Rekindle for Women" could offer a safer, natural alternative to conventional hormone therapies. Its favorable safety profile, coupled with high compliance and minimal side effects, further strengthens its viability as a practical intervention for women seeking to manage hormonal imbalances without the risks associated with synthetic hormone treatments.
While the results are promising, they also emphasize the need for further research to confirm the long-term efficacy and safety of "Rekindle for Women." Future studies should include larger, more diverse populations, placebo-controlled designs, and objective biochemical assessments of hormonal levels. Additionally, exploring the formulation's impact on specific subgroups, such as postmenopausal women or those with endocrine disorders, could provide deeper insights into its therapeutic potential.
In conclusion, "Rekindle for Women" represents a significant advancement in the field of women’s health, offering a natural, plant-based solution to the pervasive issue of hormonal imbalance. Its successful integration of well-researched ingredients in an innovative delivery format marks it as a compelling candidate for broader clinical application and warrants further exploration in both clinical and real-world settings.
